Stop for dinner at one of the traditional German restaurants along Main Street like Der Lindenbaum where you can find schnitzel and German beers. After dinner, head to Becker Vineyards Tasting Room for a sampling of the area’s fine wines or grab a beer at Fredericksburg Brewing Company, the oldest brewery in the state of Texas.

Day 2

Take a stroll with your morning coffee and wander through Marktplatz, where the farmers market is open in spring and summer, and holiday events take over the square later in the year. Stop into the Pioneer Museum to learn more about the homesteading history of Fredericksburg, or head to the National Museum of Pacific War, which honors the legacy of Admiral Nimitz and the soldiers who fought in the Pacific theater of World War II (and be sure to visit the lovely Japanese Peace Garden on the museum grounds).

Stop for lunch at Cultures Grill and Bar for a casual fusion of the local German and Mexican food heritage before spending the afternoon enjoying the wineries of Hill Country. Day 3

Start the day with a visit to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.This massive pink granite dome rises 425 feet above the surrounding hills, offering breathtaking views of the Texas Hill Country that are worth the hike. This is a very popular spot and reservations are recommended.

Make an afternoon stop at Lyndon B. Johnson State Park, where you can learn about the life and presidency of LBJ, as well as visit Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm for a glimpse into the area’s pioneer past. Before heading back to town, pay a visit to Wildseed Farms, a working farm and vineyard with gorgeous walking trails and wildflower gardens. 

Cap off your weekend with an upscale dining experience on Main Street. Stop for happy hour cocktails and charcuterie at 78624 The Bar, then head over to Vaudeville for elegant American cuisine. After dinner, make the short trip to Cross Mountain Park to enjoy the sunset over Fredericksburg.
